We Believe

We believe in God, the Father almighty ... etc. (actually the Apostles' Creed. The Nicene-Constantinople Creed is also quite okay, though already some non-biblical philosophical and religious seeds had begun to take root in it.)

Also some certain things:

  • We believe in the inspiration of the Bible, which is God's written message to all of humanity. Besides being the source from which we are personally addressed by God, it is also the absolute and irrefutable standard of our believing and doing.
  • We believe that Jesus on the cross finished our salvation from evil and death and that by his resurrection he opened a door to new life which was conceived of God. Both of these we receive simply by trusting (or believing) in Jesus. This is a free gift, which God according to his goodness (or grace) and love bestows to each person, who receives him. That's why it is something we can't “earn” by any kind of religious striving – it's a simple and personal acceptance of Jesus as he is – Lord and Friend.
  • Because we originate in the Pentecostal movement (in a larger sense also: Protestantism), we believe that the Holy Spirit still works in the Church in similar ways as in the first centuries: with a variety of miracles, healings, prophecies, speaking in tongues, et cetera. Therefore we gladly receive these gifts, which are given by the Holy Spirit. We are, however, aware that the fruit of the Holy Spirit (the maturity of Christian character, Christ-likeness) is even more important. Therefore we are a “carpismatic” (Greek karpoV -‘fruit’) – not just a charismatic group.
  • We believe in Christian community. We recognize the importance of genuine, sincere relationships among Christians – they express the love of Jesus and God's character in general. The community is a gift that God is giving us, so that we might grow in Him and that we could serve one another with gifts and capabilities given by the Holy Spirit. A true spiritual community is also a foretaste of the future things and an expression of God himself – his triunity is the most perfect example of the community.

BUT MANY THINGS WE KNOW ONLY IN PART, SOME WE DO NOT UNDERSTAND AT ALL AND REGARDING SOME WE ARE ALMOST CERTAINLY WRONG!
