Staric Denis was
born in February 1947 in Ljubljana where he also finished the school of
graphic art. Very early he felt an inner call into the world of painting.
Later on he came across sculpture in wood and stone, however he has given
up chisels in recent years, and has dedicated himself to brushes alone.
Thus he has
perfected his color opera, felicitously entitled (by use of an oxymoron)
abstract figurativeness “FACES WITHIN FACES”. It is a colors kaleidoscope
of human faces and expressions painted in oil. Occasionally these faces can
be instantly perceived, but on the whole they are mysteriously interwoven
bearing different symbols, so that the observer is forced into searching,
contemplating...
What glares out
from these images the most are the eyes. They are very evocative, almost
hypnotic, and as you stare at them for a while you suddenly enter into an
exciting dialogue with them. The point Staric wants to make is that the
face the figure and the voice make the man, and the eyes are the soul of
the face: they reflect the spirituality of a person, they mirror the
changes of temper – anger, wonder, joy, sorrow, envy, love, hate...
Each painting is
a separate, self-contained entity that is-given a conclusion by special
color ornament ending gently with the softness of colors. For that reason
the paintings are intentionally left without a frame because it is color
that concludes the painter’s idea – framing would only impede the artist’s
originality.
Denis Staric, a
painter and a sculptor of a true fair of human intentions and desires,
feelings and sparkle, who is able to sensitively put a11 of it on canvas,
is a very original artist, and it is a pleasure to meet him and his unique
color opera FACES WITHIN FACES where everyone can find a piece of his or
her own ego. In the search of his faces Staric discovers new ways every
day. And the eyes in the faces watch the observer at least as frankly and
penetratingly as the observer watches them.

Starič Denis
je rojen v februarju 1947 v Ljubljani, kjer je tudi končal grafično šolo.
Ze zelo zgodaj je začutil v sebi klic v svet slikarstva. Kasneje se je
srečal še s kiparstvom v les in kamen, zadnja leta pa je dleta opustil in
se predal samo čopicem.
Tako je
izpopolnil svoj barvni opus, kot ga je sam posrečeno - z bistroumnim
nesmislom - naslovil, abstraktna figuralika "OBRAZI V OBRAZIH".To
je barviti kaleidoskop človeskih obrazov in izrazov v oljni poslikavi. Ti
obrazi so nekje takoj opazni, največkrat pa skrivnostno prepleteni med
seboj z različnimi simboli, tako da opazovalca prisili v iskanje,
razmišljanje ......
Najbolj
žarijo s teh podob oči. So zelo sugestivne, skoraj hipnotične in ko se malo
bolj zazreš vanje, si na lepem v razburljivem dialogu z njimi. Staričeva
poanta je, da človeka naredijo: obraz, stas in glas, duša obraza pa so oči.
V njih se odsvita duševnost človeka, v njih se zrcali menjava razpoloženj:
jeza, začudenje, veselje, žalost, zavist, ljubezen, sovraštvo.....
Vsaka
slika je zaključena celota s posebnimi barvnimi okraski, ki se nežno
zaključujejo z barvno mehkobo, ki ji daje zaključek. Zato slike namenoma
nimajo okvirja, ker slikarjevo misel zaključi barva - okvir pa bi zmotil
umetnikovo izvirnost.
Denis
Starič, slikar, kipar s pravim sejmom človeskih hotenj, občutnostiin iskrivosti,
ki zna tenkočutno vse zliti na platno, je zelo izviren umetnik in prijetno
se je srečati z njim in njegovim edinstvenim barvnim opusom OBRAZI V
OBRAZIH, kjer lahko vsak človek najde nekaj svojega ega. V iskanju svojih
obrazov pa Starič odstira vsak dan nove poti. Oči v obrazih pa gledalca
opazujejo vsaj tako odkrito in prodorno kot on njih.
