BEEKEEPING ANTON SEVER

From his young age onwards Mr Anton Sever has dealt with beekeeping in a small beehouse with 18 »AZ« beehives in Brezova Reber. The »AZ« beehive is a type of beehive used by most  beekeepers in Slovenia. These beehives are stacked into beehouses which provide protection from bad weather. Such beehives can last over 100 years; the beehives of such age are owned by Mr Anton Sever.

Behouses which are kept in remote places are a true genetic treasure for the native breed of Carniolan bee named Apis carnica. An old beehouse and old beehives are not a hinderance in producing top-quality beehive products. It is important to keep the beehouse clean and in order. This is proved by Mr Anton Sever who regularly changes the honeycombs;  in excellent forage conditions- mostly with chestnut- he is a regular winner at the International Honey Competition in Semič.
